Fun Foam Matched Mittens Game

Instructions:

Use a template to trace a mitten pattern onto colored fun foam. You will need to trace and cut out approximately 20 mittens (or 10 pairs) to make a concentration or memory match game. Paint pairs of mittens with the same patterns; the small squeeze bottle puffy paints work well to design and paint directly onto the mitten without a brush. Once you have your pairs of mittens painted and dried, show your early elementary students the matching patterns. Then shuffle them up like cards, lay them face down, and have students take turns turning over two mittens, trying to find its matching pattern. For students learning the alphabet, you could make matching pairs of mittens with upper case and lower case letters. Alternatively, for a math project, paint an appropriate number of large dots onto one of the mittens, with the corresponding numeral on the other mitten of the pair.
