Say it This Way!
First of all, say "Good Morning!" to your students. Then keep going:
"Buenas Dias!"
"Hello everyone!"
"Isn't it a great day?"
"Greetings and salutations!"
"Welcome, Earthlings!"
"Bonjours, les etudiants!"
Ask your students then to come up with some new - and quirky - ways to greet each other in the morning. It's a great little icebreaker, and helps them relax in your classroom. Indeed, right from the start, they'll think that you are fun. They may even go home with a new way to say "Hello!". Recycle your greetings each morning to keep them guessing. You may even wish to have a Greeting Jar, where students can submit their own ideas, and where you can "pull one out of the hat" each morning.
